PRINCE2 Techniques

As part of the Plans and Quality Themes PRINCE2 offers 2 Techniques. They are:

Product Based Planning   A technique that contributes to the creation of a project or stage plan. It involves identifying and defining products and creating a flow diagram that sequences the delivery of these products
Quality Review technique   A formal 3 step technique for the quality checking of a project's products

PRINCE2 is a comprehensive approach for the management of projects however it does not attempt to cover all aspects important for the management of projects.

Additional tools and techniques, such as the following, may be required to assist with the management of projects.

People management
Generic planning techniques such as critical path analysis
Financial control techniques
Contract management
Specialist product development techniques

The selection of additional tools and techniques will be influenced by project type and corporate environment.

Therefore this methodology can be ‘scaled down’ or even ‘scaled up’.
